Recent Events:

  • Feb. 5th and 6th JH placed third at the UIL meet in Nacogdoches. 
  • Boys and girls varsity basketball completed the regular season undefeated as district champs. 
  • Feb. 8th  - FFA Floral Team competed at the San Antonio Rodeo in the floriculture event and placed 35 out of 80 teams - Savannah Lott, Chloe Randall, Haley Quinn, Parker Hagler.
  • Feb. 9th  - FCCLA attended the regional leadership competition in Waco (Family Consumer Science Assessment) - 5 Gold medalists - Brooke Philbrick, perfect score; Mattie Nichols, perfect score; Mardi Christopher; Kayla Butts; Savannah Osteen; 1 silver medalist, Chloe Randall; participants, Bri Ryan and Gracie Whitehead. 
  • Nicholas Doughty, an SFASU student, is on-campus as an intern in Mrs. Adams math courses for this semester. 
  • February is CTE Month. (Career, Technical Education) FCCLA and FFA are participating by providing information about the two clubs. 
  • The week of February 12th was FCCLA Week. Mrs. Nichols and her officers celebrated this week by assisting with morning announcements, providing public service agreements; read to our pre-kindergarteners; provided breakfast for the staff and other events to spread the news about FCCLA. (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.)
  • Wednesday, Feb. 14 - Martinsville FFA made bouquets and boutonnières. 
  •  February 17 - The 17th Annual Martinsville Community Steak Dinner Scholarship Night saw Martinsville Seniors help serve the meal and assist the event. 
  • Saturday, Feb. 17 - Texas High School Rodeo Region V Prom 2018 with Martinsville ISD students Hunter Dillard, Alyssa Hurst and Blake Latham attending. 
  • The week of February 19th was FFA Week. Mrs. Cobb and Mr. Cauthen and their officers celebrated by assisting with morning announcements and providing “Farmer Facts” which informs students about why FFA is important.Feb. 21 - 17 students took TSI. 14 sophomores qualified for dual-credit courses (English and U.S. History) for the 2018-2019 school year. 

Upcoming Events:

  • Feb. 23 - Boys basketball team plays Jonesboro at Franklin HS at 7:00 p.m.
  • Feb. 23 - Girls basketball team plays Moulton at Burger Gym in Austin at 6:00 p.m.
  • If girls win, they will play at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24 in Austin. 
  • March 3 - Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Floral and Rabbit Show
  • March 3 - Texas High School Rodeo in DeRidder, Louisiana 
  • March 5 - Daughters of the American Revolution Banquet
  • March 7 - District OAP at Panola
  • March 7 - HLSR Horse and Broilers
  • March 7 - Senior Day at Panola
  • March 9 - Early Release (Spring Break)
  • March 12 - HLSR Livestock Rodeo
  • March 16/17 - HLSR Ag Mechanic Contest/Show
